BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Illtud’s Church, Burry Port

This dial is high on the porch wall, strongly canted out on the west side to face south. It appears to be made of thin lead sheet and is neatly fixed to stone blocks with 16 rivets around the outside, with three screws further in. Across the top: ’MORGAN MORGAN THOMAS JOHN’; beneath this ’CH W’; and beneath this: ’DAVID THOMAS FECIT 177?’, possibly 1775. Hours are VI - XII - IIII - VI, with hour lines and short half-hour lines ending with a triple leaf. There is a simple flat gnomon with a sigmoid supporter. In Carmarthen Museum there is a longcase clock with a brass face signed David Thomas, (accession number CAASG 1975:2009). This is possibly David Thomas of Kidwelly, which is also in Dyfed, so he may be the maker. Ref: Carmarthenshire XV, p xiv
