BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lincolnshire

This is a typical 19th or early 20th century dial. The details are hard to decipher but the motto may be ’I count only the sunny hours’. Hours appear to start at 5am, using V - XII - IIII - VIII, read from outside. There is a sun face at the centre, combined with a compass rose labelled to NE etc. The dial plate is set into the large octagonal top stone of an attractive squat octagonal plinth. The same gnomon can be seen on SRN 7718 and 7936, both in Essex.
