BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Oakwell Hall, Birstall

The dial is in the restored 17th century gardens to the rear of Oakwell Hall. It commemorates the centenary of the Rotary Club of Birstall Luddites, the base of the pedestal being inscribed ’MCMV - MMV / Donated by the / Birstall Luddites’. The design of the baluster style pedestal is said to have been sourced from a dial found in the Master’s Garden at Magdalene College Cambridge. The dial itelf is a disappointing cast modern design with motto ’Tempus Fugit’, lacking its gnomon.
