BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Merlin House, Hawkshead

This large new dial with a break-arch top is mounted on the stuccoed wall of the house, and supported by a bracket below. It appears to be made of woood, painted slate grey with gold inscriptions. There are coloured sunbursts above the start and finish of the chapter ring, and a larger one around the gnomon root. Below the gnomon is ’GMT - 12 Minutes’. Across the lower section of the dial plate is ’Time waits for no man’. Upright Roman numerals VI - XII - IV - VI, with chequered time divisions to quarter hours.
