BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Lawrence Church, Gnosall

This unusual equatorial dial stands on a tall stone circular sectioned column set into a three-stepped base to the south west of the south transept. It is surmounted by a cross in stainless steel plate and rod. The tapered hour ring shows 5am to 7pm in Arabic numerals, with analemmas, or part thereof, for each hour. The base of the dial fixing plate is inscribed ’Michael Felton fecit 1997’. Ref: BSS Bulletin 15(iii) Sept 2003, ’Marking Time in Gnosall’. The article says that SRN 3311 was replaced by a combined cross and sundial in 1992. Perhaps this 1997 dial is a further replacement. The dial is a replacement for SRN 3311.
