BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Nottinghamshire

The dial is white painted on wood or slate, and placed centrally on the south side of the building. Above is a pediment where the gnomon, in the form of a spear, is mounted. Upright numerals VIII - XII - IV, with hour lines but no subdivisions. Across the top of the rectangular dial plate is ’TAKE TIME’, and below is ’TO THINK, IT IS THE SOURCE OF ALL POWER / TO PRAY, IT IS THE GREATEST POWER ON EARTH / TO LOVE AND TO BE LOVED, IT IS GOD’S GIFT’.
