BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is part of a War Memorial in a small garden area close to the park entrance and Information Office. It is not attached to the plinth at present and it is not clear whether it will be permanently in place or only fitted for special occasions.
The dial is engraved ’World War One / 1914-18 / Centenary 2014’. The gnomon root is in the centre of the circular plate. Aligned numerals V - XII - IV - VII, with gnomon gap and hour lines and half hour lines. Solid gnomon 3/16 inch thick with ’S’ shaped north side, and inscribed ’Border Sundials / Monmouthshire’ on the west side.
