BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in London (Greater)

The dial is at the centre of a circular area with stone benches and surrounding memorial stones. It is mounted on the octagonal top of a short circular sectioned baluster style pedestal, on a high 4-stepped base, all of polished granite. Raised aligned numerals V - XII - IV - VII, with no hour lines but raised dot hour indicators and small holes marking the half hours. Inside the chapter ring is shown in embossed lettering: ’I count none but golden hours’ and ’Horas nullas nisi aureas’. In the centre is an 8-point compass rose labelled to NE etc. The gnomon is missing, but its root must have been raised at the southern end, as that location holds a perpetual calendar disc (not now free to rotate) with a sun face at its centre. It has day numbers and month adjustment.
