BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
A large attractive dial in the front entrance area of the secondary school. It has a thin gnomon with a narrow style. Aligned numerals are read from the outside, IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, with a noon gap that appears too wide for the gnomon. The early morning and late evening hours also seem inappropriate for a dial at this latitude. The motto runs in large capitals around the chapter ring: ’ I am a shadow so art thou I mark time dost thou?’. Grasses are etched in the corners and the centre holds an 8-point compass star, labelled to SE etc. Inscribed at the S ’W. Page & Co. / Gt Portland St / London W1’
