BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Shetland Islands

The dial appears to show BST, using Roman numerals in relief, VII - XII - IV - VII, with no hour lines but 15 minute divisions shown by small punch marks. The plate is either double, or has a stepped circumference. A rectangular plaque at the south of the plate may have had an inscription but any text is no longer visible. The gnomon is substantial, possibly 12mm thick, and unusually long. Fluted cast iron pedestal similar to others at Scottish lighthouses, but the dial is not standard and is possibly a replacement.
