BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Old Palace Yard, Westminster

The sundial celebrates Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and can be found in front of the statue of George V in Old Palace Yard. It was designed by Quentin Newark with mathematics by Dr Frank King. It is made of four red, white and blue rings of granite from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The motto around the edge is from Shakespeare’s Henry VI Part III, starting ’To carve out dials quaintly, point by point, . . . ’.
