BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial will be found at the entrance to the Church garden next to the Sailing Club. 16-point compass labelled to NW etc. Hour numerals read from outside V - XII - IIII - VII, with the chapter ring divided to hours, halves and quarters. Inscriptions at the north: ’In memory love lives forever / Thorney Island / 50° 49 N 0° 55 W‘. At the south is ’Edgar Lewis / 1921-2011 / Church member, pilot and sailor’.
