BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Gloucestershire

Poplar Farmhouse is on the A46. The dial is inset almost flush into the stone south-west wall, below a first floor window, with a protective capping. The condition is remarkably good for the age of the dial. Across the top is ’LA=GWINNETH 1660’, the ’NN’ and the ’TH’ conjoined. Upright numerals IX - XII - IIII - VIII. Hour lines end in a large semicircle around the gnomon root, and there are short half hour lines. Bar gnomon with finger tip, with straight support from face mounting bar. The house is English Heritage listed and was built in 1661. Note a similar dial on Shurdington church, inscribed ’16 RICH=GWINNETH 55’.
