BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

This unusual 9-ring armillary sphere is in the Cross Garden, on an old stone plinth. It bears the motto ’Esto quod esse vederis’ (men should be what they seem), and many other inscriptions including family names and dates. A vertical sided ring below the dial is engraved with inverted lettering. Its reflection in the base plate can be read as ’In the garden of happy memories it is alsways summer’. The baseplate also carries compass points and a topograph with the directions and distances of places connected with the owner’s service in the Royal Navy.
