BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cumbria

6am to 6pm in half hour intervals. Numerals are Roman and enclosed within concentric circles. Roman 4 = IV. Two concentric arcs surround the gnomon root. This dial is portable and has a heavy sanstone base, it being an integral part of the dial. Provenance unknown but may be Penrith area. Of sandstone typical of that area. Inscription at head of dial is in Old English script and probably reads: R. Tait. Date beneath this reads 1826.
