BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Lancashire

A memorial on a plinth of fine blue-grey stone. The current octagonal dial is probably a replacement. Inscription: ‘A TOKEN OF GRATITUDE The gift of those soldiers wounded in the Great War 1914 : 1919 who were restored to health by the ladies of the Starr Hills V.A.D. Hospitals and to the generous residents of this district who ministered to their comfort’.
