BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Isle of Wight

Inscription reads ‘I record only the shining hours’ An hourglass and pair of wings is depicted in the top centre and each of the top corners has a small fleur-de-lys. Decoration also includes a crested moon and five stars. Upright Arabic numerals 5 - 12 - 4, with hour lines to small semicircle around the gnomon root, and half and quarter hour divisions. Located in a purpose made niche with moulded surround in the parapet of the south facing wall. In 1880 the building was a Billiard Hall for an adjacent Victorian residence, with its main features being the barrelled ceiling and sundial. In 1925, the Billiard Hall was converted into a private residence, with the main features remaining.
