BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Durham

Difficult to see, the dial is mounted on a pedestal in an ornamental pond and is covered in coins! There might be a compass rose and inscription currently obscured by the hoard of coins. The dial is marked in hours from 4 am to 8 pm, divided to halves and quarters and 7.5 minutess, using Roman numerals read from the outside. The pedestal is a simple white cylinder with the inscription around the circumference : ’I mark the hours every one : Nor have I yet outrun the sun’.
