BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St John the Baptist Church, Alderford

Unusual dial with wooden plate and lettering, and substantial decorative gnomon. Faint signs of full length hour lines remain, but no other delineation or numerals. Across the top is the motto in individual wooden letters attached with screws: ’REDEEM / THE TIME’, and below that a double scroll also in attached wood. The gnomon is formed from a substantial sheet, cut to provide a double ’S’ support but with the portions adjoining the dial plate left intact. Inset within a bevelled stone surround having an arched top, the whole set into the flint/stonework above the south porch entrance.
