BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Kent

Kirkstone slate dial on a pedestal of Nabresina limestone. The dial plate measures 40 x 40 cm, celebrating the 40th birthday of the owner. It is designed for latitude 40 degrees north for the same reason, and the top surface lies at an angle of 11.5 degrees down to the south to compensate for the installed latitude of 51.5 degrees. Across the upper edge is inscribed ’C . VIII . XII . MMXI . F’ giving the initials and birthday date, and also providing the noon hour numeral. At noon on 8th December the shadow of the gnomon fills the gilded box above it. Along the lower side of the dial plate is ’FAVERSHAM’, and on the southern edge ’C ST J H DANIEL DELINEAVIT. B JONES CAELAVIT EXETER 2011’. The northern edge has the lat and long. Ref: BSS Bulletin June 2012, pp 34-35.
