BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Bedfordshire

Putteridge Bury is part of the University of Bedford. Upright numerals VI - XII - IIII - V, with short hour and half-hour lines. To the left of the gnomon a deeply carved cockerel, to the right an owl. Bronze or copper gnomon, with curved support bearing a cock’s comb design on its upper side. The dial is set in the brick wall at second storey height, above the main south door. Above the dial is a separate stone with a Coat of Arms - the silver Sowerby lion?
