This dial replaces an earlier one on the same plinth, whose fate is not known, see SRN 3917. Unusually the gnomon toe is at the centre of the dial plate Numerals V- XII - IV - V, from inside, with full length hour lines and short half hour lines. 2 emblems in a fairly free-hand style, possibly a griffin and a coronet with a dove. Motto around S side ’DEPRESSUS EXTOLLOR’ (’I was depressed, I am exalted’). Square section stone plinth, tapering upwards, with larger square top, around which are ’SUNNY DAY / CLOUDY DAY / LOOK ABOVE / ALWAYS’, cut in relief.
