BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Kent

A vertical disk of Cumbrian green slate, whose two sides bear direct E and W dials. A carved and gilded comet head projects from the top side, and the hours and analemmas form its tail. The gnomons are 6mm gilded brass plate with an inset crystal whose flat central section forms the nodus. Declination lines for solstices and four family birthdays, labelled with initials. Round Bath stone Tuscan style column, o/a height 1625, carved around the top ’Let others tell of storms and showers, I only count the sunny hours’. See SRN 6441 (Marsh Gibbon, Oxon) for another dial similar in principle. Designed, delineated and made by Harriet James, gnomons by John Davis.
