Dial in Cambridgeshire

A thick square dial of Welsh plum slate, carved and painted, with a gold declination line for the owner’s birthday (12 December). It uses aligned numerals V - XII - IV - VII, read from the outside, with hour lines to a small circle at the gnomon root, and no subdivisions. The motto around outside is ’LET OTHERS TELL OF / STORMS & SHOWERS / I ONLY COUNT THE / SUNNY HOURS’. It stands on a reclaimed oak pedestal 250 sq x 915 tall, on a square base 406 sq x 75 thick.
