BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

This is an elegant 1/2 plus 1/4 ring armillary sphere. The hour ring is formed from 4 x 50 x 600mm flat mild steel sheet, bent into a semicircle, the inner face painted white, and markings applied using black Letraset, then varnished. Roman numerals 7am to 5pm, using IV, in quarter hours. The gnomon is an 8mm steel rod topped with a rubber ball. The pedestal was formed from an old lintel stone from the house. UPDATE: The dial was refurbished in 2024 and moved from its original location on the Isle of Lewis. It now stands on a square section sandstone column with base and top plate.
