A memorial to 17 Merchant Navy members lost from ships during the Falkland Islands conflict of 1982. Polished black granite on a base of Portland stone, set on York stone paving. The surface of the memorial has a raised 8-point compass star with the 4 cardinal points indicated. The gnomon is a cast bronze anchor. Small Roman hour numerals are inscribed in the vertical edge of the granite dial plate, only approximately positioned. Plaques on the Portland stone base bear the names of those lost.
