BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Merseyside

A globe dial sits atop a cube dial, on an elaborately carved column, in the Earl’s private garden. The globe has 24 arcs of longitude, labelled in Roman around the equator with XII at the N and S, appropriately for a swinging gnomon. Although this would have been far too high for an observer to operate. The arcs are labelled around the Arctic circle with Roman numerals with the XIIs at the E and W, suitable for timing by the shadow terminator. The cube dial is believed to have E, S and W faces, and to have had a working clock on the N face. Information is from a senior manager at Knowsley Hall (Edward Perry), Oct 2009. Ref: BSS Bulletin Vol 22(111) Sept 2010 pp 46-52.
