BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is at the bottom of the lawn to the south-west of the house. It was designed and delineated by Nicky Macpherson, and stonework was by Tom Nelson from Drumnadrochit. The slate gnomon by Graciela Ainsworth (Edinburgh) has the Macpherson rampant cat as a supporter, symbolising the clan’s motto ’Touch not the cat but (without) a glove’, and Celtic relief designs on both sides. Roman numerals read from the outside give BST time 8am to 7pm on individual stones, the hour given by the trailing edge. The stone at the south has a thistle and protea flower design (Protea is a South African shrub). It is inscribed ’NM MMIX EAM’ for Nicky (South African) and Ewan (Scottish) Macpherson.
