BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
An open book is shown on each side of the gnomon, with on its pages ’Your sunny hours alone I tell’. Showing below the book are the tips of sun’s rays, emanating from a Masonic eye at the N end of the gnomon. Next a band of 8 compass directions, labelled to NE etc. IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, from outside, with split noon. No hour lines, but hour, 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 are marked. Circular section pillar plinth with ornamentation to top, patterning and motto ’Horas non numero nisi serenas’.
