BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Turton Tower, Bolton

Little is currently known about this intriguing dial, which is located below a second-floor window on the south wall of this lovely old building. The stone seems blue-painted and very little detail is left, though some hour lines survive and possibly declination lines too. The gnomon, which bears a nodus, is a solid triangle of gold-coloured sheet, with the style extending to an over-long rod with a spear-head end. Turton Tower is a scheduled ancient monument and a Grade I listed building; a stone pele tower is thought to have existed on this site in 1420.
