BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Sussex (E)

This dial replaces SRN 2505, made in 1994, which had rotted. Declination arcs for solstices and equinoxes identified with zodiacal sigils. Motto ’Lux Post Umbram’ (’Light after shadow’ - the dial does not receive sunlight until about 11am). Summer solstice arc marked with BST hours III and VI; winter with GMT hours XI = XII - IIII - VII; Hour lines and 20-minute lines. Ref BSS Bulletin 19(iii) p 128. The trigonometrical method therein was used to delineate this dial.
