BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Hampshire

The dial is on the south wall of building at SE of school complex, adjoining playing fields, some 3 m above ground. It is a memorial to Mrs Hiller, a cheerful and popular receptionist at the school, who had been tragically killed in a road accident. A fairly simple design with a positive English motto and Arabic numerals was thought appropriate. Peter Ransom, who teaches at the school, was instrumental in having it made. Inscriptions - at the top ’Times to smile’; below the numerals ’1957 CHRISTINE HILLER 2003’; bottom left ’Andrew James’; and bottom right ’No.4 MMVII’. Ref article in BSS Bulletin.
