BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cumbria

War Memorial dial. Red sandstone square-sectioned plinth, height 800. Circular top has carved ’TIME [N] / PASSES [E] / MEMORY [S] / ABIDES [W], barely discernible. Inscription on the northish face of the plinth reads ’IN / GRATEFUL / MEMORY / OF THE MEN / FROM THIS / PARISH / WHO FELL / IN THE / GREAT WAR / 1914-1918’; and on the eastish face ’ALSO THOSE / WHO FELL / IN THE / SECOND / GREAT WAR’. Listed by Imperial War Museum.
