BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cumbria

Inscribed ’C. H. Chadburn & Son / Opticians &c / to HRH the Late Prince Consort / Lord St Liverpool/’. 8-point labelled compass ring. Anti-clockwise EOT ring. Numerals IIII - XII - IIII - VIII read from outside. 30, 15 and 5-minute intervals inside the chapter ring, 10 and 2-minute intervals outside, 20, 40 and 60 marked in Arabic numerals. The gnomon has been repaired, at present (Sept 2006) incorrectly - discussions still under way between R Sylvestyer and the restorer, John Boulden of Plympton, Devon. Highly ornate fluted Victorian pedestal.
