BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is in the original part of the cemetery some 500 metres from the original Prospect Gate entrance. It projects about 1ft 6ins. above the 12ft high stone boundary wall between the cemetery and the Botanic Gardens near the crematorium. Upright hours Vi - XII - IIII - V, with no intervals. Motto ’Dum lucem habetis credite / in lucem ut filii lucis sitis / Haec locutus est Jesus / Jn 12:36’ - ’Whilst you have the light, believe / in the light , that you may be the children of light. / These things Jesus spoke. / John Ch 12 verse 36’. Wrought iron gnomon broken at the top and sprung away from the plate.
