BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Down

Engraved at the south, read from the north is ’The Gift of Rob Wallace of Newry to the [Protest] Defenting Congregation of [ . . . . ]; the Revd Mr And. Kennedy Minister; 1757’. There is an eight-point compass marked to NE etc. Inside the chapter ring, read from outside is ’Made by G Adams in Fleet Street London [..Inst..] Maker to His Royal Highness the PRINCE of WALES’. Numerals IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, divided to 30 and 1 minutes, labelled in Arabic 20, 40, 60. Mounted on a 900mm high octagonal granite pillar.
