BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Wick Manor, Wick

In the rear garden is a bronze horizontal dial possibly dating from the early 20th century. It shows the hours IIII-VIII and has an 8-point compass rose labelled N, NE, E etc. The motto reads ’Lux Umbra Dei’ (Light is the Shadow of God). The dial is supported by an octagonal section baluster pedestal with octagonal mount stone set upon an octagonal plinth.
