BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Hall Place (1), Leigh

The dial has an 8-pt compass rose labelled to NE etc. At the south is a a shield with the motto: ’L’heure passe / L’amitie reste’ and the date ’1805’ (probably actually a 20th century dial). Aligned numerals read from outside IV - XII - IV - VIII. There is no noon gap. The dial is mounted on a good fluted pillar with leaves below on a square base. See also SRN 6898.
