BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Hertfordshire

A good standard five-dial Melvin, restored by Harriet James in 2006. 32-pt compass rose, central chapter ring with Roman numerals read from inside, IV - XII - VIII. 69 placenames, EOT, mottoes, maker’s name, latitude (51 deg N), and ’To find Greenwich or Railway time, add five minutes to the time on the dial’.
