BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Westwood Cross Shopping Centre, Broadstairs

Made in the form of a Viking longboat, incorporating benches for public seating. Equatorial band approx 250 wide has hours V1 - X11 - V1 (sic!) divided to half hours, with welded-on numerals. One of the Xs is upside down. EOT graph shows ’GMT solar time’, but the curve is not corrected for longitude. Basically quite a nice modern dial but badly let down by errors eg the use of 1 for I in the Roman numerals.
