BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Yorkshire (N)

Gnomon estd 250 long x 12.5 thick, with elegant scalloped back edge. Engraved both sides with arms of Archbishop of York. Dial plate looks like a replacement. Poorly engraved in soft copper or brass. Aligned Roman numerals read from outside, V - XII - IIII - VII divided to quarter hours and 5 minutes. Dial is on round Yorkstone plinth on limestone column, estd 750 high o/a. Not recorded by Gatty although she frequently stayed at the palace, so perhaps the dial came from elsewhere after her time.
