BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, Castlefield

This is a majestic and suitably authoritative dial from the earliest days of time standardisation which the speed and spread of railway travel had made essential. The dial itself resides in a glass case inside the station building which forms part of the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. A replica dial (see SRN 6878) stands in its original position on a sandstone plinth over the First Class Passengers’ Entrance just outside the booking hall window. The Museum is nearly always open and well worth a visit.
