BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

Aligned numerals read from inside IIII - XII - IIII - VIII with split noon and 30 and 5 minute divisions. 8-point compass rose at centre. Motto inside the S end of the chapter ring ’A shadow round about my face / The sunny hours of day will trace’. Attractive round-sectioned concrete pedestal with spiral fluting decorated with grape vines. Antique dial plate and new pedestal given as a birthday present by I Butson, Aug 2003.
