BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

32-point compass rose, labelled at 16 points (NNE etc). Scrolled chapter ring with V - XII - IIII - VII, read from inside. Hour lines and half hour lines (diamond end), also 15 and 5-minute divisions, all inside the chapter ring. EOT graph at the south, and ’LAT 51 31 N (C) Meristic’. Around the outside THOU BY DIAL’S SHADY STEALTH MAY KNOW TIME’S THIEVISH PROGRESS TO ETERNITY’. Along the style of the sturdy gnomon ’K AND R TWELVE YEARS. JULY 1984’. Spandrels show four polar views of the Earth with tropics, longitude lines, etc. Dial mounted (with bevel edge slate base) on square-sectioned ornamental tapering plinth, in rear garden.
