BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Berkshire

Circular horizontal memorial dial with nodus and declination lines. This is an unusual large modern dial, carved directly into the top surface of the stone, with a sturdy brass gnomon which has a notch nodus. Unfortunately the gnomon has been mis-placed by 180 degrees - it should slope the other way - otherwise this would be a very fine dial indeed. The dial has hour lines for 7am to 5pm, and a noon gap. All lines terminate on declination curves for the nodus to indicate winter and summer solstices. There are no numerals or any other inscriptions. The dial plate sits on a fluted circular-sectioned plinth on a very large square base inscribed ’SHASH’. A plaque at the foot dedicates the dial to the mother of Duncan and Angus, 15th November 2001.
