BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Peter ad Vincula Church, South Newington

Rectangular vertical dial on the ornate porch. The very richly ornamented fifteenth century Gothic porch includes this dial, on which no markings are now visible. The porch declines about 12 degrees west of south, so the dialplate is canted to make it face due south. The dialplate is rectangular, but with a Baroque scroll above, which seems out of place on a Gothic porch. This, together with the way the dial is canted, makes one wonder whether it was part of the original porch or has been added. The gnomon is a simple strip of metal with a straight supporter.
