BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Tyne & Wear Museum, South Shields

Designed by Alex Chrome, made by John Jackson of South Shields. Scaphe quadrant divided to 12 hours in Roman style. No declination lines or numerals. Pedestal 310w x 300 deep x 900 high, with floral decoration on sides, and on the front, incised and painted red, ’M . AVR.RVFVS / HOROLEGIVM / AB . HORIS / INTERMISSVM / SVIS . IMPENDIS / RESTITUIT’. The dial is inside the grounds of the Roman fort, beyond the fine modern reconstruction of the gatehouse of Arbeia Fort, which guarded the River Tyne entrance.
