BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Northamptonshire

A section of a dial inscribed in a window lintel stone (red sandstone?). Early 18th century or possibly late 17th. Radial Arabic numerals 10 - 2 in a double circle chapter ring, with a large cursive ’9’ and rough attempts at an ’8’ and several ’7’s. Three further concentric circles within, with half and quarter hour lines out to the third, and hour lines out to the inner circle of the chapter ring. Double hour lines at 12 and also, in error, at 1. Compare SRN 6768 at Bennettes Hill, Eydon, in similar stone and possibly by the same hand (W T).
