BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Holland House, Cropthorne

In the rear courtyard garden is a 20th century bronze horizontal sundial possibly made by Barker of London. Unusually, it is a little larger than the stone mount beneath it. It shows the hours IIII-VIII divided down to intervals of 5 minutes. There is an 8-point compass rose marked N, NE etc and the motto ’I count none but the sunny houres’. The dial is mounted on a cylindrical column with entasis which may possibly have been designed by Lutyens whose design was used for the sunken garden.
