BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Heale House Garden, Middle Woodford

A modern etched reproduction of a larger dial by Thomas Wright, mediocre quality. 16-point compass rose, coat of arms and clockwise Equation of Time (incomplete). Aligned Roman numerals with noon marked as XII and 4am & 4pm as IIII, with noon gap. Read from outside. Inner ring to 1/8 hours, outer to 1 minute, 10s numbered in Arabic. Recessed into top of good simple stone baluster type pedestal. Reference: 1 - C Daniels’ ’Clocks’ article ’Caveat Emptor’, Aug 1996.
